AUSTRALIA

1934 £2 black/rose-crimson Kangaroo, CofA watermark, overprinted SPECIMEN (type D), is plateable from the scratch which extends from the Victorian coast down through OU of POUNDS [plate position = L50], mint hinged – no thins, tears or bends. Has a Starling certificate.

This was the cliché that Jean de Speratti used to create his well-known forgeries of the £2 value – the only forgery he made of an Australian Commonwealth stamp.
