1870 5/- dull violet Coin, perf. 13:13, ‘5/~’ watermark, overprinted SPECIMEN, mint hinged – has a slightly rounded corner, otherwise sound. Specimen stamps of this era were sold stuck to a special sheet, usually by the top ¼ of the stamp. Consequently, the gum is usually missing at the top, generally a mess and has some of the residual paper stuck to the back.
