1870 4d pale red-brown Queen Victoria Diadem, perf. 13:13, ‘4’ watermark, overprinted SPECIMEN, mint hinged – no thins, tears or bends. Specimen stamps of this era were sold stuck to a special sheet, usually by the top ¼ of the stamp. Consequently, the gum is usually missing at the top, generally a mess and has some of the residual paper stuck to the back.
